Midwest Sundowners Information
The MIDWEST SUNDOWNERS R/C FLYING CLUB was started in LaPorte, IN during the 1950's and chartered in 1972 by a group of enthusiastic modelers. The Club became a not-for-profit corporation on April 1, 1982. Some of the original charter members are still actively involved in the club to this day.
We sponsor many club events throughout the flying season which are all open to the public. There is sometimes a small entrance fee and lunch is served (donations encouraged).
Membership is open to anyone with a desire to pursue the hobby of model aviation. The club conducts Radio Control flying of miniature aircraft at a field located North West of Vaparaiso. The field contains a 465' grass runway (north-south) and a 275' grass runway (east-west). There is also a shelter structure, trash barrels, and a PortaPottie for the comfort of the members and visitors. These facilities are behind locked gates and can only be accessed if you are a member. If you wish to visit the facility, you may contact any OFFICER
to arrange for a member to escort you.
