WEATHER

Welcome

Midwest Sundowners is a model aircraft club with approximately 125 to 150 members primarily focused on radio controlled airplanes and helicopters.

The large size of the airfield and its surrounding spaciousness presents the luxury of being able to fly giant scale aircraft as well as ones that are…  not as big.

The airfield, located North West of Valparaiso, consists of a 465' grass runway (north-south) spanning 275' feet wide (east-west), a shelter structure, and Porta Potties for the comfort of the members and visitors.  We take great satisfaction in keeping the field well tended and mowed twice a week.

Our bountiful acreage also allows our set of three trainers to provide our students a less stressful learning environment.

Midwest Sundowners prides itself on being an inclusive community of model enthusiasts dedicated to teaching and training those who wish to learn more or start pursuing model aviation, and insists on creating a safe environment for its members and guests.
We sponsor many club events throughout the flying season which are all open to the public.   Occasionally there is a modest entrance fee, however, lunch is usually provided.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in model aviation. Our facilities are behind locked gates and can only be accessed if you are a member. If you wish to visit the facility, you may contact any officer to arrange for a member to escort you.

Looking Forward to Season 2012!....

Members and Guests,

Right now it’s February 2nd and I’m at the field.  The weather has been nice enough to allow us all to get some post-new year flying in if we want to.  As I look around I see a nice big new shelter, among some other new additions and there is no doubt that our campus is improving.

This has all been done in a year when we suffered some of our toughest challenges yet as a club.  While it is easy to focus on those low times, what surmounted them was the incredible and unending generosity of some of our members, efforts of the officers and a lot of good fortune.

In the year to come I see more endeavors to grow our membership and include the community in what we do as well.  We are already signed up to do quite a few not-so-small shows, and one of my personal passions is to share the fun I have in the hobby.

In closing, I hope we all continue to stick together, and to support each other in every regard which we are able.

Calm Winds~Sunny Skies~Happy Landings
